NO, Carbs do not make you fat!

Carbs are necessary for you because they give you energy! Excess of any macronutrient will cause weight gain, but carbs specifically don’t make you fat!
The reason you might lose weight on a low carb diet is because it decreases insulin levels, which causes your body to burn fat for energy instead. This diet may lead to a short term weight loss goal, however, is not as sustainable for long term. In fact, many studies show that this diet long term (12+ months) doesn’t hold many benefits.

The reason many people steer clear of carbs is because they are digesting “bad” carbs or refined carbs like white bread, cookies, cakes, juices and more. Sticking to “good” carbs or natural carbs like whole grains and fruits are great for your body!
If you want to lose weight in a safe and sustainable way, eat in a calorie deficit and do not neglect any macronutrient!
