“Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy and wealthy and wise”

That might be my new favorite quote because I have noticed how much more productive I am when I get up early! Keep reading to learn what has worked for me to become a morning person!

Go to bed early

Going to bed early can allow you to feel more refreshed in the morning. Going to bed early can allow you also to get the same amount of sleep you were getting before, just at different times. It’s recommended that you get anywhere from 6-8 hours asleep each night.

Download the Sleep Cycle app on your phone

This is a great app you can download here!Basically the app records your “sleep cycle” and shows you how you sleep each night and if you’re tossing and turning. The best part though is how it wakes you up. You set a half hour time period (mine is between 6:30-7:00 AM) and it will wake you up in that time period when you’re in your lightest sleep so you can wake up better and more easily. Since its waking you up at your lightest point of sleep, it can make transitioning into an early riser less abrupt.

Create both an evening and morning routine

Creating a routine can also allow you and your body to know when to go to sleep and wake up. At night, try laying out my gym clothes, brushing your teeth and washing your face at the same time each night. That signals to your body it’s time to start relaxing and get ready to bed. In the mornings, do the same. Create a routine that signals to your body that its time to get the day going.

Stay consistent

It’s important to know that becoming a morning person will take time! You’ll probably be tired the first week or so but stay with it! Eventually your body will get used to going to bed early and waking up early and your biological clock will kick in!

With these tips, you’ll be a morning person in no time!
